He runs Political Risk Assessment Co., Inc., a security and terrorism research consulting company in Santa Monica, California.

He is the author of the critically acclaimed book “The Terrorist Trap: America’s Experience with Terrorism.” Through interviews with terrorists and their victims, with reporters, government officials, and others, he brings to life a tale of presidents and terrorists, media and society, all entangled in the drama of international violence.

A former RAND analyst, Dr. Simon has lectured and given workshops on terrorism to university audiences, law enforcement and military personnel, the emergency services, and the medical community both in the United States and overseas. He has also consulted with research institutes, businesses, and government agencies. Current projects include a study of innovation in terrorist tactics, future trends in terrorism, and identification of effective counterterrorism measures. He is on the Editorial Board of Terrorism and Political Violence and has been interviewed on television and radio stations throughout the United States.

Dr. Simon earned a B.A.in History from the University of California at Berkeley, an M.A. in Political Science from Indiana University, and his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Southern California.

Dr. Simon gives an informative and important speech on current trends in terrorism, such as the growing trend of lone wolf terrorism. He educates his audiences as to what terrorism is about and what responses work, and what responses do not work in the battle against what he calls an "endless conflict." It is a speech that will be of interest to any group wanting to learn more about a phenomenon that will remain a high priority issue for the United States government and its citizens for years to come.
